Mentor’s
“Life After
Layoff” Program
If you have
been recently laid off, you most likely qualify for Mentor
Training’s Life After Layoff Program in which our normal
tuition fees are waived.
How the
program works
A recently
laid-off worker may call Mentor Training the day before a class is being
held to see if there is still space available in that class. If a seat
is available and we have received proof of unemployment, the worker is
enrolled in the class and the normal tuition fee is waived. The only
cost to the student is for course materials (between $50 and $75 per day, depending on the course).
1.
Eligibility
You
are eligible for this program if you have been laid off in the past
six months and are receiving unemployment benefits. Prior to
enrolling in a class you must bring or fax to Mentor one of the following proofs of unemployment:

Layoff
paperwork from the company that recently laid you off

Unemployment
paperwork or an unemployment pay stub

State
of California EDD paperwork

Schedules/Pricing
For
a list of classes visit our schedules
page and also review the course
descriptions to determine if you meet the prerequisite for the
class. Class prices are $50 to $75 per day of training. Please call
for additional information.
* Note: Life After
Layoff applies only to classes in San Jose.

Payment
Payment
is required at the time of registration. You
may pay for the courses with a credit card or with cash. Checks will
not be accepted. If paying by credit card, we need the card number at
the time of registration and we will charge the card upon completion
of the registration. If paying with cash, you may give your credit
card number over the phone when you register and then let the
Registrar know that you will pay by cash when you come in the next
day. If you do not have a credit card, you will need to come to Mentor Training to pay by cash in person.
Important:
At the completion of the call, the registration is complete and
all cancellation and rescheduling policies apply. If you fail to attend
the class, payment is still due but you may take the class at a later
time on a space available basis without having to pay the materials fee again.
